This Doula training is part of Florencia’s journey in the ‘birth world’ and is her latest project. She works as a birth worker and assists as a doula since 2006, she took part in the first doula training in Barcelona and has since developed different doula trainings: Mares Doules, Doulas Barcelona, bringing Debra Pascali Bonaro (DONA) in 2008 to Barcelona, created Doulas Con-ciencia and now QUIERO SER DOULA, which means ‘I WANT TO BE A DOULA’.
The goal is to create a global training covering theory and practice, accompanying women from the beginning, transmitting the social work that Doulas´s represents. The understanding of the profession is specific to the cultural and social circumstances of every country: in Spain the doula work accompanies the emotional and practical environment to motherhood, specifically pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period.
Encouraging ‘mother-baby’ attachment is priority, because bonding is the foundation on which good social relationships are created later in life.
The course runs over 10 months and encompasses 142 hours of teaching across 9 modules and an additional requirement of self-study.
