Doulas have an established history in Luxembourg, with an Association that dates back to 1986. The Association however, is much more than just a meeting point for doulas of that country: Members and doula professionals have worked for years to improve conditions surrounding the whole birth process, informing and counselling both future and young parents in order to make childbirth a more educated process.
The Association has nearly two thousand members – a significant number – though a much smaller number of active doulas assisting with births. Luxembourg doulas primarily focus on pregnancy and birth, postnatal and breastfeeding assistance. There is no training currently available in the country, but the Association will confidently continue its work in coming years.
