Česká asociace dul, ČAD – The Czech Doula Association
The Czech Doula Association (ČAD), founded in 2001, unites and educates doulas and promotes information about doula work. ČAD strives to improve maternity and parenting services in the Czech Republic by spreading evidence based information about pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding and early parenting. We collaborate with parenting and midwives organizations.
Since 2002 every year we organize doula trainings. Our basic doula training consists of 9 weekend seminars spread over one year, individual study and practice individualy supervised by experienced mentors (experienced doulas). Each student must accompany 3 mothers during pregnancy, birth and at least make 1 visit postpartum – this practical part must be consulted and approved by the personal mentor. The doula student must submit a written report, feedback from mother and one birth professional for each birth. The training includes also attendance at 3 supervison groups. To become „ČAD certified doula“ – „certifikovaná dula ČAD“ – the doula has to accompany 3 more mothers in the perinatal period and discuss it with her mentor. After her work being aproved by the mentor, she needs to successfuly pass the final discussion with the ČAD committee.
Besides this basic training, ČAD organises continuing education, supervisory programs for doulas and offer support to our members.
Since 2016 we organise postpartum doula trainings as well.
