AFDB French-Speaking Association of the Belgian Doulas
The so-called association “AFDB” is the French-speaking association of the Belgian Doulas, founded in 2008, counts around 90 members and has 4 main goals:
- to offer a securing working and supporting environment to its members through our Code of Ethics, by giving them guidelines in their practice of their doula activity
- to pass useful pieces of information on to its members (trainings, conferences …)
- encourage quality support throughout the respect of our Code of Ethics, continuous training and regular internal meetings
- design/develop/maintain a large network in collaboration with professional of the perinatal domain.
Originally created to educate and gather the new doulas around a unified and only training, the AFDB decided in 2020 to become independent from any doula training centers. Now each doula whose education as doula fulfills some criteria in terms of topics, supervision, training period (and so on…) is welcome within our association.
We think that widening our horizon and enhancing our practice go through opening our arms to quality doulas who share our Ethics, no matter where they were educated as doula. That’s why each member must comply to the membership criteria that we implemented and of course must sign our Code of Ethics.
