Situated in Paris, the Institut has been responsible for the training of doulas since 2008. It provides courses anywhere in France as long as the learning group is big enough. Until today there have been courses in Bordeaux, Marseille, Montpellier, Lyon, Paris, Rennes and Toulouse. Over a period of 12 months, trainees are required to complete 200 hours course work and a further 200 hours self-study which includes reading, self-evaluation projects and the preparation of a final project at the end of the training.
Trainees are limited to 15 per group and the Institut provides the opportunity for participants to return and re-train in all 12 of the course modules, free of charge.
The Institut proposes a Winter University for doulas since 2011. It offers workshops, moments of exchange and recreation. Future projects will include other workshops and the establishment of regional meetings on a regular basis.
